Is Isla Mujeres saturated

The answer to that question is both yes and no;  for someone who was here over twenty years ago, it certainly may appear so. In those days you could drive to anywhere in the center and park wherever you chose, with the exception of Hidalgo, which has always been pedestrianized.

There were just the Magana ferries then, sometimes they broke down and other times they just didn't turn up. They had a monopoly so they didn't modernize. History is littered with companies that failed to modernize; 88% of  Fortune 500 companies that existed in 1955 no longer exist. Blockbuster, Polaroid, Toys R Us and Pan Am, that went bust in 1991, to name a few recent casualties.   Pam Am was known for having the rudest of cabin crew; you had to wait for the right moment to dare to ask them for a drink.

Ultramar ferries came to the island and gradually Magana faded away, Ultramar probably brings more people than is desirable to the Island at weekends; mainly Mexicans that do little for the island's economy.

In those days there was just one pharmacy on the island, as you can imagine not the cheapest place to buy medication, but that is where everyone had to go. There was just one supermarket in the center, where they could never seem to get the price displayed and the prices at the checkout to match. There was just Mundaca Real Estate and one other real estate  agent that fell by the wayside over twenty years ago.

We built three properties near the Curva de Diablo in 2002/2003 and then bought land in Punta Sur and other parts of the island, we still have luxury properties at Punta Sur for sale and rent,  www.islamujeresluxuryhomes.com Our projects now are in Europe mainly Spain.

So is Isla Mujeres saturated? Not really, when compared with other places; sixty years ago Cancun was a fishing village, and there are people who remember it as it was and it may seem rather saturated to them. We bought land from the person who built the first hotel in Cancun, Diego de la Peña, who died recently. His yacht called Mr. Cancun, could often be seen anchored in the bay of Isla Mujeres.
